Fort Lauderdale to Nassau is the shortest international route we fly regularly, and the one that best demonstrates why private aviation is worth it. The flight itself is around 45 minutes. The time you save is measured in hours.
Which aircraft fits this route
Our own Beechcraft Denali is the natural choice, and this is exactly the trip it was built for. The distance is short enough that range is never the constraint, the operating cost is a fraction of a jet on a 45-minute leg, and the short-field performance opens up the smaller Family Island strips that a jet cannot use.
If you are travelling with more than eight people, or need to be in the air within the hour on a day our aircraft are committed, we will source a light or midsize jet from the network instead. Same standard, different economics.
Departure airports
Most clients depart Fort Lauderdale Executive (KFXE), which is closer to the city than Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International and considerably quicker through the FBO. Opa-locka (KOPF) and Miami (KMIA) both work if you are starting further south.
Customs and documentation
Nassau is an international arrival, so passports are required for every passenger, and you will clear Bahamian customs on arrival at Lynden Pindling (MYNN). We file the inbound paperwork and coordinate with the FBO in advance, so the clearance is normally a formality rather than a wait.
Returning to the United States requires an APIS filing and a customs stop. Fort Lauderdale Executive has an on-field customs facility, which is the main reason we favour it for this route.
Beyond Nassau
Nassau is often the gateway rather than the destination. Exuma, Eleuthera, Abaco, and the private strips in between are all short additional hops, and in many cases we can route you directly rather than connecting through Nassau at all. If you are heading to a private island or a resort with its own airstrip, tell your advisor at quote stage, because it frequently changes which aircraft we recommend.
